The San Francisco Bay Area is a crucible for innovation, a region where scientific boundaries are advanced and high-technology frontiers are expanded. With the nation’s highest concentration of national laboratories, research universities and private industry R&D firms, the Bay Area is well-positioned to provide lasting economic prosperity and security to our nation.
The Bay Area Science and Innovation Consortium (BASIC) will tell this story to the world. Through this website and an annual publication, “Bay Area Centers of Scientific and Technological Innovation”, we will highlight Bay Area institutions and organizations that are regional, national and world leaders as centers for innovation.
